Piezo Injector Testing and Cleaning

There are many different Makes and Models of vehicle with Petrol Piezo Injectors, one of the most notorious is in the picture above which is fitted to many BMW models, such as N43/N53/N54/N63, you will hear lots about Index Versions, Index versions are basically where improvements have been made to the injectors which resolve the many problems they experience.

We Carry Out High Pressure Injector Testing

Unlike almost all other companies who test these injectors at lower pressure than they run at we test at 300 to 400 bar or 4300 to 5800 psi wich is typically the pressure that these injectors run at. We test at these running pressures as we experienced injectors that passed low pressure testing but the injectors leaked at the higher running pressures, this proved to us that low pressure testing was unsatisfactory.

Chances of improvement by cleaning are roughly as follows 

Up to Index 9     -  Very Slim chance of improvement by cleaning

Index 10 - up to 60% chance of improvement by cleaning

Index 11 - up to 80% Chance of improvement by cleaning

Index 12 - up to 95% Chance of improvement. by cleaning

Our cleaning and testing process involves ultrasonic cleaning, removal of the filter, Ultrasonic cleaning and purging, then testing at pressures up to 400 bar,(low pressure testing like most companies is a waste of time) then testing over different pressures and pulse rates. Once testing is complete new  Metal (not plastic like original which fall apart) filter baskets are fitted to injectors that have passed testing and are suitable for use. Injectors are then packed in individual "Bubble" packs to avoid contamination and protect until fitted to the engines.

Common Faults

The biggest problem with Piezo injectors is failure of the Piezo Crystals, this results in intermittent spray or no spray at all, next comes dirt and contamination which affects both the spray pattern, finally the injectors can leak meaning that fuel is constantly entering the cylinder. We can test Piezo Injectors to manufacturers specifications and spray patterns and also ultrasonically clean the injectors stopping leaks and restoring performance and spray patterns.

No need to buy cheap or fake injectors now that we can restore these injectors to fully working condition in most cases, if they cant be restored to working condition we can usually supply genuine parts at attractive prices.

Cost for Cleaning and Testing Piezo Injectors

The cost for cleaning and testing is £40.00 each plus VAT and carriage if required.

These injectors can be difficult to remove due to the temperatures they reach, we have special tools and Hydraulic pullers that allow us to remove injectors quickly and usually without damage.

Don’t Refit Injectors without New Teflon Seals

Remember like GDI Injectors the Teflon Seals are a one-fit item and replacement Teflon Seals need special tools to fit, we fit new seals and filters where available and needed.
