Engine Overhaul

We are seeing an increasing number of Range Rover owners brining their cars from all over Europe for us to inspect and restore the original power and often upgrade the performance at the same time. Combined with 'modernising' the suspension to improve the already luxurious air suspension we can restore the performance and handling of these competent off-road vehicles for improved motorway use as required.

One of the problems with the Rover V8 engine is caused by not changing the engine oil often enough and using low quality oils, this has the effect of starving the camshaft and rockers of oil and causing the lobes that open the valves to wear to the point of not opening the valves at all. We often see this engine when many other garages have failed to find the cause of the 'misfire' and rough running having spent huge amounts of customers money NOT fixing the problem. By this time the engines are often running on 7 or even 6 cylinders and down on power overall. Many of these engines also suffering from sticking piston rings that reduce power and allow oil to burn and cause smoke and emission problems.

We start by giving the car a good check up and produce a list of problem areas and an estimate of the cost to repair and restore as required by each individual customer. We can complete the work all in one go or in any number of stages.

Range Rover p38's are steadily going up in value and overhauling the engine or the whole vehicle is a lot less costly than most customers expect, a ball park figure between £2,500 and £3,500 covering most of the vehicles that we have completed.

We are now starting to see the same requirement for the 2.5 litre Diesel Engine P38 models, again the camshafts wear, the piston rings stick in the pistons causing blue smoke and the fuel system can suffer injector and fuel pum and injection timing issues.
